The Blue Boar Inn is a traditional coaching inn dating back to 1685.
Now a listed building, this rambling hostelry has three floors with beamed ceilings, the differing floor levels reflecting how it has been altered and adapted during it's time.
The beamed bar has a large inglenook fireplace, which gives a warm welcome on any day.
This village pub has recently enjoyed a revival, and since James Lee bought it in 2008 a great deal of time and money has been spent restoring it to it's former role as a delightful village pub with great food.
James, a chef, earned his reputation at various fine establishments in the country.
The charming restaurant seats up to 50 people, and it can be booked for functions and parties, or you can join other diners and have a cosy table for two or more.
The extensive blackboard menu changes regularly, depending on what is in season, but you can always find delicious home cooked local food, served in pleasant surroundings.
The five comfortable en-suite rooms have been tastefully decorated, re-furnished and carpeted. All have colour TV, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer and free Wi-Fi Internet.
We use locally produced, seasonal food whenever possible, concentrating on the specialities of our county of Norfolk. These include locally reared beef and pork, mussels, crabs, asparagus and marsh samphire. All served with fresh fruit and vegetables from local growers and Fakenham market.
We offer special senior citizens' weekday lunches, Thursday evening is steak night and Friday night is fish and chip supper.
Enjoy all this with Real ales, some from East Anglia and a delicious and comprehensive selection of wines, you are sure to return to the Blue Boar Inn.
