The North Norfolk coast is renowned for its beautiful long sandy beaches and unspoiled environment. Holkham Beach has lovely walks and was the location for a scene in the film Shakespeare in Love. The area is also a haven for bird lovers who can enjoy walks and wildlife along the coast at Salthouse and Cley. We are also within striking distance of Pensthorpe and Titchwell just along the coast. Or why not take a boat trip to see the seals and wildlife at Blakeney Point and have lunch at the nearby Anchor Inn with local oysters and seafood.
Morston Hall is also the home of Michelin-starred chef Galston Blackiston and there are many other great eateries both in Sheringham and dotted along the coast.
Golfers are well catered for at local Sheringham Golf Club and also at the courses at Cromer, Brancaster and Hunstanton. If you are a links course lover North Norfolk is the place for you.
Montague House is within easy reach of the many great houses in Norfolk - including Holkham, Wolerton Park, Houghton, Felbrigg, Blickling Hall, and Mannington Hall with its rose garden designed by Norfolk grower Peter Beales. Garden lovers might also want to take in the gardens at the Vicarage at East Rushton with over 32 acres of exotic and unusual planting. The Georgian market town of Holt with its great shopping is only a 10-minute drive away or why not take the Poppy Line train there, have a leisurely lunch and saunter home to Sheringham in the afternoon. It is also home to Norfolk’s answer to Harrods, Bakers and Larners with its well-known food hall.
